Where a missing strip is identified as the likely cause of cracking, remedial options usually focus on treating the resulting cracks and, where practical, retrofitting isolation at the perimeter (for example by cutting back skirtings and inserting a strip or sealant joint) rather than lifting the screed, since retrofitting full isolation beneath an existing screed is rarely practical.
