Commercial and light-industrial floors bring a different set of priorities to a screed quote than residential work. Programme speed is usually the dominant concern — a retail unit or workshop sitting empty costs money every day, so the ability to pour a large area fast and get back to trades quickly matters more than shaving pence off the per-m² rate.
Floor flatness (typically specified to SR1) and loading requirements also come into play in a way they rarely do domestically, particularly where racking, machinery or heavy foot traffic is planned.

Why a fast pour matters commercially
A single-day pour of several hundred square metres, followed by controlled drying and a fast-track floor finish, can compress weeks off a fit-out programme compared to hand-laid sand-and-cement — and that time saving is often worth far more to a commercial client than the difference in material cost between screed types.
