Liquid Screed Thermal Conductivity — And Why It Matters for UFH
The single spec number that decides how fast your UFH warms the room.
Thermal conductivity (λ, W/mK) tells you how efficiently heat moves through the screed from the pipe up to the floor surface.
Higher is better for UFH — it means faster response and lower flow temperatures.
Thermal conductivity (W/mK)
| Screed type | λ (W/mK) |
|---|---|
| Anhydrite (Gyvlon / Gypsol) | 2.0–2.2 |
| Cemfloor standard | 2.0 |
| Cemfloor Therm (enhanced) | 2.4+ |
| Sand-and-cement | 1.2–1.4 |
A UFH loop through sand-and-cement runs at 55°C to deliver the same room temperature that liquid screed delivers at 40°C. That's roughly 20% more energy for the same comfort.
