Liquid Screed on Timber Floors
Screed on timber is done all the time — but the deck build-up and joist loading are the whole story.
You can pour liquid screed over timber. What makes it work is the deck detail below: acoustic layer, foil VCL, and a strong T&G board that won't deflect.
Joist loading needs a check from a structural engineer — 50mm of Cemfloor is ~110kg/m² and not every existing joist wants it.
Timber deck build-up (top-down)
- 50mm Cemfloor liquid screed with UFH
- Foil-faced VCL — taped joints
- 22mm P5 T&G chipboard or ply deck
- Acoustic overlay (e.g. 6mm sound-board)
- Existing joists (loading confirmed)
