Liquid Screed Drying Times — By Depth & Product
The 1mm-per-day rule is a rough guide, not physics. Here are realistic numbers.
Drying time depends on depth, product, humidity and air movement. The '1mm per day' rule of thumb is right for the first 40mm — after that it slows.
These numbers are for natural drying at 20°C, 50% RH, with air movement. Force-drying cuts them by roughly a third.
Natural drying times (days to tile-ready)
| Depth | Cemfloor / Anhydrite |
|---|---|
| 30mm | 20–25 / 25–30 |
| 40mm | 30–40 / 35–45 |
| 50mm | 45–60 / 50–70 |
| 60mm | 60–75 / 70–85 |
| 75mm | 80–100 / 90–115 |
Force-drying rules
- Wait 24–48h before starting dehumidifiers
- Run 24/7 until moisture test passes
- Do not use radiant heat — use dehumidifiers only
- UFH commissioning schedule (0.5°C/day rise) can be combined with dehumidification
